Versatile & classic garment

Anorak is a classic piece of clothing that in many ways can be considered the ultimate outer garment. It's suitable for dynamic outdoor activities where the user places high demands on function, durability and comfort. Its versatility means that it can be used in many different contexts, for example as a shell over a warming mid-layer when it's chilly or as an independent outer garment when the temperature is milder.

The anorak has a long and rich history, originally originating from the ánorâq, a garment worn by people long ago who lived in areas with cold climates. At first, they were made from skins and furs from animals such as seals, musk oxen, polar bears and raindeer with the aim of protecting against wind, snow and rain. During the late 1800s, explorers and adventurers brought back loads of gear, household items and clothing from their polar journeys, and suddenly the anorak was introduced to the Western world. In Sweden, it took until somewhere around the 1930s before the publuc was introduced to the anorak, when the Swedish armed forces began to use the so-called "snow blouse", a white cotton anorak that would provide Swedish soldiers with wind protection and camouflage up at the Norwegian border.

Common to all anoraks throughout history is that they have been used in situations where high demands were placed on quality and function. Regardless of whether it was used during polar bear hunting, polar expeditions or longer hikes, it was of the utmost importance that it held tight (against wetness and wind) and did not break. This is still reflected today as the anorak often is manufactured in proper materials with well-thought-out functionality.

We think that the anorak is the ultimate outer garment. Largely due to its versatility, as it is a garment whose roomy fit makes it possible to use in a variety of layering combinations during all months of the year. Most people associate the anorak with winter sports, but we believe that it can just as easily be used for hunting hiking or other outdoor-related activities.

There are many benefits of wearing an anorak. Below we've listed some of the reasons that make it one of our absolute favourite pieces:

1. The anorak's unique design enables a huge ammount of storage in many smart pockets. So much that you sometimes even can leave your packpack at home.

2. The design is classic, simple and functioanlity safe, as it has fewer moving parts that can break. For example, there is no longer front zipper to fail. The simple construction also makes it generally more windproof compared to a regular jacket.

3. The half two-way zipper on the front allows you to reacgh in and access items (such as electronics) stored inside the jacket in extreme conditions by just opening a small opening.

4. The anorak has two longer two-way side zips. These enable ventilation and while also making the anorak easier to putting on and taking off.

5. It is equipped with a crotch strap and a storm hood that provides protection during challenging weathers. The crotch strap also helps keeping the Anorak in place when it's windy and/or when you're carrying a packpack, so it doesn't ride up.

6. The anorak is an extremely versatile garment. The roomy fit means that it can be used together with many different layer combinations for a range of different activities and contexts throughout the year.

The only time we can think of when it's not beneficial to wear an anorak is on days when you care a little extra about your hairstyle...
